Augsburger Domsingknaben look forward to their Bishop The Augsburger Domsingknaben recently welcomed the newly appointed Bishop of Augsburg, Dr. Walter Mixa, by a musical greeting in the town of Eichstätt. Domkapellmeister Reinhard Kammler and the Domsingknaben are particularly happy that Pope Benedict XVI has appointed a Bishop for the Diocese of Augsburg who comes from the Bishopric himself and is therefore very well acquainted with the Augsburger Domsingknaben. Bishop Dr.Walter Mixa emphasized that he greatly appreciates the quality and skills of the Augsburger Domsingknaben particularly in the area of church music and regards the Domsingknaben as an excellent way for the church to reach and communicate with young people. Celebrating the mass for the inauguration of Dr. Mixa broadcast live by Bavarian Television, the Augsburger Domsingknaben and the Cathedral Choir under the guidance of Domkapellmeister Reinhard Kammler sung the Missa Papae Marcelli by G. P. da Palestrina (1525-1594) as well as motettes of old masters and Lieder in the praise of God.
